Your stay
Imagine yourself on your private terrace, in the shade of the jasmine, whose white blossoms fill the air with their fragrance. At your feet, the Auzonnet flows peacefully, just 10 metres away; before you lies the Cévennes forest.
La Rose des Sables is your family’s haven of peace. This authentic gîte, with its exposed stone vaults, is the most spacious, featuring a living/dining room, two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchenette.
The master bedroom faces south, with a view of the swimming pool. The second bedroom, whose window overlooks the living room, is equipped with a single bed and a bunk bed. This can accommodate children (the top bunk is reserved for children over 6 years old) or adults (the top bunk is placed on the floor). Please let us know which arrangement suits you when you make your booking.
From 18 July to 23 August 2026, our holiday cottages are available for 6- or 7-night stays only: from Sunday to Saturday or from Saturday to Saturday. See the pricing details below.
We live on site but know how to keep to ourselves. We take care of the daily maintenance of the swimming pool whilst respecting your privacy. As culture enthusiasts, we host shows organised by the Maquis Culturel association in the garden once or twice a year in the spring. View the programme here.

What our guests say
Frequently asked questions
Is the lodge air-conditioned?
No. But during the day, the stone vaults, thick walls, fan, swimming pool, forest and river keep us cool.
Adopt the good habits of the South: close the blinds and shutters during the day. This will help keep the gîtes as cool as possible.
On summer nights, the temperature drops to around 20°C. So open the windows wide: you’ll sleep in the cool... And in the early morning, around 5 o’clock, a blanket is a good idea!
Can we bring our pet?
No. Pets are not allowed.
Is the swimming pool safe for children?
Yes, the swimming pool is fitted with a cover that is closed at night. However, parents remain responsible for supervising their children.
Are there any shops nearby?
Within walking distance, in the village of Saint-Jean-de-Valériscle, you’ll find a bread outlet, a community-run, member-supported grocery shop selling goods at cost price, a wellness centre, an inn, a traditional open-air café, a sewing workshop, a hairdresser’s…
For a full shop, Les Mages (3 mins) and Saint-Ambroix (7 mins) have supermarkets and shops.
The market in Alès, at the market halls (20 mins), is a must-visit.
Is it allowed to swim in the river?
The Auzonnet river flows just 10 metres from the gîtes. You can dip your feet in and cool off. If you’d like to go swimming, we can recommend the best spots in the area (Luech, Cèze, Chassezac, Gardons).
Is the Wi-Fi working properly?
Yes, the Wi-Fi works well on the terraces and in the garden. However, due to the thickness of the stone walls, there is no Wi-Fi signal inside the lodges.
Do we need a car?
You can reach the terraces using public transport. The train and bus drop you off 200 metres from the gîtes.
However, a car is recommended if you want to make the most of the region. The roads in the Cévennes are winding but beautiful. Double the distance in kilometres to estimate your journey time!
How's the arrival going?
Check-in is from 5 pm.
We will welcome you in person to hand over the keys, show you around and offer advice on the local area. If you think you might arrive late, that’s fine; and of course, if your journey doesn’t go to plan, please let us know – we’ll be waiting for you.
Check-out is requested by 9 am.
This is essential on Saturdays during the peak season when we need to do the laundry, clean the three gîtes, sometimes the dining room, the three terraces and the garden, as well as the swimming pool. The rest of the year, if you wish to make the most of your final day, or Sunday if you’ve come for a short stay, we’ve put together a special “late check-out” offer for you. Choose this option and leave at a time that suits you!
